What Smart People Had to Say About Islam Part II

During an interview conducted in the late 1930s (published in 1939), Karl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist and founder of analytical psychiatry, was asked whether he had any views on what was likely to be the next step in religious development. According to this article, Jung replied, in reference to the Nazi fervor that had gripped Germany:

"We do not know whether Hitler is going to found a new Islam. He is already on the way; he is like Muhammad. The emotion in Germany is Islamic; warlike and Islamic. They are all drunk with wild god. That can be the historic future."

More detailed information on the connection between Nazism and Islamism may be found here, here, here, and here. Restrictions on freedom of speech and expression are the first steps on the long and not uncommon road to tyranny. Why has the strongest nation on Earth become so scared to tell it like it is? Must we experience an attack 100 times worse than 9/11 to shake us out of our moral and mental indolence?
